ROOM SET UP SUGGESTIONS AND A.V. GUIDE
FOR ROGER DAWSON SEMINARS
(Please give a copy to the Banquet Manager)
For a successful presentation, the speaker must be heard and must be seen! Good audio and a well-lit speaker are essential!
LCD Projector
Mr. Dawson uses a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. Please arrange for an LCD projector and a laptop with CD drive and a remote control with which to change the slides.
Microphone
Mr. Dawson prefers a handheld microphone, not a clip-on lavaliere, because the handheld sounds so much better.
Seating
Since Mr. Dawson uses a fill-in-the-blanks outline, so your attendees need to be able to take notes. Therefore classroom style (with tables) is preferable, rather than theater style. Please avoid round tables unless a meal is to be served.
Lighting
Next to being able to hear the speaker well, audiences want to see the speaker. Unless the area when Mr. Dawson will stand is well lit, please arrange for extra lighting that puts light on him, without washing out the screen. A couple of small spots attached to the ceiling works best. Please leave house lights full up, so that attendees can take notes.
Riser
For audiences of 75 or more, please provide a 9” to 12” riser.
For audiences of 400 or more please provide a 24” riser.
Notes Table
Please have a small circular table (draped and skirted) on the stage for the speaker’s notes.
Mr. Dawson does not use a lectern.
Book Table
Please have a six-foot draped and skirted table in the back of the room for CD and
book sales.
Breaks
Any presentation up to two hours can go without a break. For longer sessions, a break should be scheduled to start at the midpoint . For example, for a 9 am to 12 noon seminar, schedule a break from 10:30 to 10:45.
If you have any questions please call Roger Dawson’s office at 800-932-9766. On the morning of the event, or the evening before, please call Roger Dawson at his room in the hotel.
